Description: This dataset contains a "Baseline" representation of 2019 developed lands in Florida used in the Sea Level 2040/2070 project. Sea Level 2040/2070 is a joint effort of the University of Florida's Center for Landscape Conservation Planning, 1000 Friends of Florida, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Sea Level 2040/2070 build on the Florida 2070/Water 2070 reports released in 2016, while including some updated data, incorporating the impacts of sea level rise on lands available for development, conservation, agriculture and other purposes, and addressing the associated need for population relocation. One baseline scenario and four land use/population distribution scenarios were produced for the Sea Level 2040/2070 project: a 2019 Baseline scenario, Sprawl 2040/2070 scenario, and Conservation 2040/2070 scenarios. The scenarios are based on future population projection data produced by the Florida Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR). The scenarios are based on a population projection derived from data produced by the Florida Bureau of Economic and Business Research. The Baseline captures the patterns of land use and associated population distribution that existed in 2019. Sprawl 2040/2070 captures a potential pattern of land use and associated population distribution for 2040 or 2070, should all new development occur in greenfields at the same gross development density as was present in each county in 2010 for 2070 scenarios or in 2019 for the 2040 scenarios. Conservation 2040/2070 captures a potential pattern of land use and associated population distribution for 2040 and 2070 that assumes increased levels of redevelopment of existing urban areas, increased gross development densities in greenfields, and protection for additional agricultural and natural lands.
