Layer: Ranchlands (Parcel Based) (ID: 2)

Name: Ranchlands (Parcel Based)

Display Field: DESCRIPT

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: This data layer was created by the University of Florida Center for Landscape Conservation Planning to represent the extent of potential ranchlands in Florida. The data creation process involved several steps. First, a subset of property parcels was selected from the Florida Geographic Data Library's PARCELS_2023 shapefile, specifically those classified as Grazing Land with Soil Capability Classes I to VI. Next, an additional subset was created by identifying parcels designated as Improved Agriculture or Acreage Not Zoned Agriculture. Parcels from this subset that overlapped with areas of Improved Pasture or Unimproved Woodland Pasture from the Cooperative Land Cover v. 3.8 shapefile (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) were selected. The two subsets were merged to create the final data layer with individual parcel boundaries dissolved in the final version.
